Why Did The Punjab Government Launched E-bike Scheme
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz launched this scheme in response to rising fuel costs and poor public transport availability across Punjab. With petrol prices exceeding Rs. 320 per litre in 2025, thousands of students from low-income families were either dropping out or arriving late due to unreliable and expensive commutes.
The scheme has two specific goals:
- Shift student transport toward electric vehicles to reduce Punjab’s urban air pollution — Lahore ranks among the world’s most polluted cities in winter months.
- Provide zero-interest financing so that students and low-income families are not excluded from owning a vehicle due to bank markup rates.
The 25% women quota and 30% rural quota reflect the government’s intent to reach students who are currently most disadvantaged by poor public transport infrastructure.

Step by Step Guide to Apply Online
The application process is fully online. Unlike BISP 8171 Program, You do not need to visit BISP Tehsil office. Apply only through the official portal.
Open your browser and go to bikes.punjab.gov.pk. Click on “Register Now”.
Enter your CNIC and active mobile number. You will get a 4-digit OTP. Enter it to verify. Create your password.
Enter your personal details, college or university name, academic year, and address. Be accurate — every field matters.
Choose from the official catalogue only. Decide carefully between electric or petrol before submitting. You cannot change later.
The official bike catalogue is available on bikes.punjab.gov.pk. Approved electric bike brands in previous cycles included Jolta, Super Star, and Ravi. Approved petrol models included Honda CD70, Yamaha YB125Z, and United 70cc. Always check the portal for the latest 2026 catalogue before selecting — models may be updated.
Upload clear scans of your CNIC, student ID, learner’s permit, domicile, and photograph. Every file must be readable.
Click Submit. Save your Tracking ID immediately. You will use it to check your application status later.
How to Check Your CM Punjab E Bike Scheme Application Status
After submitting your application, you can check its status at any time by following these steps:
- Go to bikes.punjab.gov.pk
- Click on “Track Application” or “Application Status”
- Enter your CNIC number and the Tracking ID you saved after submitting
- Click “Check Status” — your current application stage will appear on screen

- “Under Review” — your documents are being verified by BOP and your college
- “Shortlisted” — you have been selected for the next round

Verification Procedure – What Happens After You Apply
After submitting your application, it goes through a 4-stage process. Here is exactly what happens at each stage.
Stage 1 – BOP Verification
The Bank of Punjab checks your details against NADRA records. Your college confirms your student status. This takes up to 10 days.
Stage 2 – Digital Balloting
If applications exceed quota, a transparent computerized ballot takes place. Selected students receive an SMS on their registered number. Keep your phone active.
Stage 3 – Financial Scrutiny Meeting
BOP calls you for an in-person meeting. They check your guarantor’s income and calculate your Debt Burden Ratio (DBR) — this is the percentage of monthly income going toward loan repayments. BOP requires the DBR to be below 50%, meaning your guarantor’s monthly income must be at least double the installment amount. Sign the facility letter and open a bank account. Then pay your down payment (20–30%).
Stage 4 – Bike Delivery
The dealer delivers your bike with insurance included. Bike registration cost is not included — you pay that separately at your local excise office.
